Both Gary and myself are pleased to announce that Craig Lawson is on board with PSP as our legal advisor; the legal aspect of self protection training is as important as learning the soft and hard skills.
If you end up getting arrested and go to court, you have to defend your actions to the judge and/or jury, in that you were justified in using reasonable force against the assailant.
Craig's profile is on the PSP website and we look forward to working with Craig in the future and at all our seminars.

Here's another detailed packed video from Gary Hilton, showing how to correctly apply the palm strike; the palm strike is my favourite pre emptive strike, it can finish someone quick and latches you to their head where you can fire off more strikes and get into a position to control and restrain the Threat, if need be, especially when working the doors.

Here's another video from Gary Hilton, showing one example of a pre emptive strike; pre emptive strikes happen when all attempts of avoiding and de escalating a situation have failed and you are in fear for your own safety, which Gary mentions in the video.

With lots of free time during lockdown, I've been looking through old photo albums from my travels and during my reporting days and came across this photo of a very lean me with the NYBA Phil Baroni.
Phil was there at the camp for a few weeks, preparing for a fight and in the time he was there, he hosted a No Gi seminar that went down a treat.
During the time he was there, I got to hang out with him when we had our meals, as well as chilling out after training and I can say he is one of the nicest, humble guys you could ever wish to meet.
Wish I was that skinny now (*sighs*)
A large part of the syllabus in Precision Self Protection covers the soft skills of self protection, something both Gary and myself feel isn't taught enough in many martial arts and self defence systems.
In this video, Gary talks about Avoidance, a soft skill that goes hand in hand with Awareness.
