BJJ Globetrotter in the house!

Brilliant session last night as always and an added bonus was having the pleasure of a BJJ Globetrotter, all the way from San Francisco, who is staying in the UK until the weekend.

Cody, it was an honour having you on the mats and everyone at Wimbledon BJJ wishes you a safe flight back home and hope to see you here again in the near future :)

The Northern Monkey is on the Northern Line...

Every Monday and Wednesday, from 815-945pm, you can see the Northern Monkey twisting up fools at Wimbledon BJJ :)

The next competition on our radar is the Destroy Inc event in Dartford in September, so plenty of hard work ahead for everyone at the club...

Check out wimbledonbjj.co.uk with huge thanks to Victoria Caldwell of Caldwell Design and Marketing for updating the website.

No Gi mayhem last night...

Awesome session last night with another No Gi class and it was prison rules only :)  Started the class with a good warm and then straight into the fun, starting off with single leg attacks and moving onto knee slicers, reverse heel hooks, more knee slicers and a liberal sprinkling of neck cranks, face bars and rounded the session off with some 'street' moves, all of which I've used many times on the doors.

Great fun all round and thanks to my student George for being a great uke :)

Wimbledon Massif Down Under...

Really cool to see three of my students, past and present, on the mats Down Under at Absolute MMA in Melbourne, repping the Wimbledon Army :)

Nice work guys!!

My new logo...

Absolutely over the moon once again, with my brand new awesome logo, designed and created by the super talented Gareth Baxendale, aka Gartista...

This is more a personal logo, as I told Gareth I wanted something to show off my Northern roots and the public's perception of the kind of people that do my job as a door supervisor and he's nailed it in fine style, the flat cap a stroke of genius.

Plus, I'm always being called a Northern Monkey by my students and friends from up North, so I thought what the hell, time for another logo!

I cannot recommend Gareth's work enough, check him out at @gartista on Twitter and IG...

I've managed to get behind a few epsiodes of the GCP podcasts, so here's a few for your dinner hour...

Surrey Open...

Sadly, yesterday was not to be our day at the Surrey Open; we only managed a default silver, the rest of the lads had good fights, but didn't go their way, but managed to pull off moves we've been drilling in the training camp.

Lots of things to work on back at the gym starting tonight and onto the next competition; sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes the nail and yesterday it was our turn to be the nails.

Still very proud of my lads yesterday, for stepping up and putting everything on the line, no losers in this game, you either win or learn.

Looking forward to class tonight, having a spot of No Gi whilst the sun is out :)

Ooosss!

Training camp over...

All the hard work over the past nine weeks has come to an end and the lads are as ready as they'll ever be for the Surrey Open on Sunday; blood, sweat and tears have been spilled on the mats and everyone has worked real hard during the training camp and I am really looking forward to watch my guys compete on Sunday and hopefully come back with some bling...
