Gold medal for George!

 Young George made quick work of his two No Gi matches yesterday at the BJJ 24-7 London Open, winning both via submissions in under one minute, with a straight foot lock and a figure foot lock, to grab the gold medal :)

Bronze at Grappling Industries!

 A very well deserved and hard earned bronze medal for Brenda at the GI competition on Saturday :)

Three students broke their competition cherries at the event and all students managed a W on the day, plus I've come back with a load of notes from their matches, plenty to be working with to sharpen up the basics and get them ready for their next competition adventures :)

Last night's class

Had a session with the pyjamas on last night as six monkeys are competing on Saturday at the Grappling Industries comp, which is a mix of Gi and No Gi and one monkey will be competing No Gi on Sunday at the London Open.

A busy weekend ahead, all those competing have put the hard work in, so I'm looking forward to watching them all step up and compete; three of them are breaking their competition cherry on Saturday, so best of luck to them and to everyone else competing and repping Wimbledon BJJ and Northern Monkey Jiu Jitsu :)

Bon voyage Ahn!

 Last night was young Ahn's last class at Wimbledon BJJ, before he flies back to South Korea tomorrow to continue his studies; safe journey brother, it's been a blast having you back at the gym and we will all see you back here in December :)

 Another killer competition class last night at SW19, one more session tomorrow and it's off to Harrow on Saturday for the latest instalment of the Grappling Industries competition :)

White Belt Wednesday!

 Another poor show by from the club's coloured belts, can't keep up the pace with all the hungry white belts on the mats!

Killer session as always, drilling single and double leg takedowns, half guard passing, takedown shark tanks and rolling, getting the lads ready for the Grappling Industries event on August 27th :)

Last night's class

 Had a brilliant session last night at NM HQ, a wrasslin' inspired session in memory of the late Gene Le Bell, lots of fun and lots of PAIN :)

RIP Judo Gene!

 Sad news to hear of a true legend and impeccable martial artist...I was given a couple of copies of his book when I was in LA from Todd Hester, who was the editor of Grappling magazine at the time, shortly before I started writing for the magazine, it's one of my prized possessions.

In memory of the great man, I will be taking a read of the book and will teach a few of his moves in my No Gi class tonight.

Last night's class - Northern Monkey Fight Night 6!

 Another killer session last night at SW19, which finally featured Northern Monkey Fight Night 6 :)

Three action packed fights kicked off the class and it's all been filmed and will be posted as soon as the editing has been done :)

Bronze medal for Big Mike!

 Huge congrats to Big Mike who competed at the Surrey Open last weekend and bagged a bronze medal :)

Another great weekend of competing from the monkeys, more medals for the club :)

Double silver for Craig!

 Huge congrats to Craig who competed at the Roll Models event last weekend and came away with a silver in the Gi and No Gi division :)
