Gavin Davies at Wimbledon BJJ!

 It was an honour and a privilege to have fellow black belt Gavin Davies on the mats at Wimbledon BJJ during our No Gi week :)

Gavin runs the very popular The Gavin Davies Podcast alongside David Brough and after finally meeting Gavin at the Festival of Martial Arts, Gavin dropped in and kindly showed a few cheeky techniques and rolled with myself and the students.

Myself and Craig Lawson are due to appear on their podcast later this year and we look forward to having Gavin back again at the club :)

Last night's class

 An epic session last night at Northern Monkey HQ, consisting of just specifics and sparring the whole class, lots of hard work and sweat galore from all the monkeys, including my good self :)

Erik's All Stars medals!

 Yet another great day at the office for young Erik at the weekend, bringing back more bling for himself and the club; the young teen has worked extremely hard this year and all these medals are his reward, with lots more to come before the end of the year :)

Stripe #1 for Jake!

 Huge congrats to Big Jake on his very well deserved first stripe, given by the Northern Monkey on Monday night :)

Monday night's class

 Record numbers on the mats this year for a very hot and sweaty Gi session, as we prepare for two of our biggest comps to date; in August we have the ADCC event at the Excel Centre and in September we are off to Harrow for the NAGA event.

So lots of hard work and shark tanks ahead for those competing and all the monkeys, it takes a team effort to get people ready to compete.

Gold and silver for Erik!

 It was another good day at the office yesterday for young Erik at the All Stars event, bagging a gold in the No Gi and a silver in the Gi division :)

 Kick started another month of training with a busy No Gi session; delivered a guard passing and ankle picking masterclass, plus lots of rolling, what's not to love??

Festival of Martial Arts!

 Had a great time teaching at the very first Festival of Martial Arts at the weekend, teaching Catch to a very enthusiastic group of martial artists; my partner in crime Craig Lawson was also there as my uke and he also delivered a talk on the use of reasonable force and has it applies to martial arts training.

Had the honour of sharing the mat with Adrian Valman on my slot and great to finally meet Gavin Davies in the flesh, as well as having Leo Brunsden and Carys Bradfield back on the mats too.

One of the guys on my mats messaged me earlier today saying he used the quarter nelson I taught on one of his team mates during his Open Mat session yesterday, which has cheered me up no end :)

Huge thanks to Matt Stait and Lucci Del Gaudio for having the vision to pull this one of a kind event off and for getting so many martial artists together across the weekend, look forward to many more!
