Wayne Lakin @ Wimbledon BJJ!

It was an absolute honour and pleasure to have Judo legend Wayne Lakin on our mats at Wimbledon BJJ yesterday; Wayne delivered a masterclass on transitions and ground work, leaving us with pure gold to add into our Gi game and I look forward to seeing the monkeys catching people with it when he hit the comps this year :)

Wayne also gave us an insight into the mindset of high level Judoka and how they approach their fights and also gave us a mini masterclass of grips near the end of the session, brilliant stuff!

Everyone had a blast and really enjoyed the session, it's not even day we have a guest of Wayne's calibre on the mats, so a huge thanks to Wayne to coming over and sharing some of his knowledge with us and I'm looking forward to class tomorrow, lots to play around with :)

Last night's class

An absolute killer session last night at SW19, a little quieter than normal, but a great session none the less...the content on the wrestling for BJJ workshop at the Snake Pit has really enhanced the No Gi classes and the material has been easy to put into our training and I'm really looking forward to seeing it in action at NAGA in a. few weeks time.

Medals for George and Erik!

Great to have George and Erik back in class last night, showing off their hard earned medals at the weekend...next comp will be NAGA in April, really looking forward to this comp, the last event was our best day out in 2023 :)

Last night's class

Another hot and sweaty No Gi session at SW19 last night, troubleshooting a few things that came up in Erik's fights, applicable to everyone competing or rolling in class...watching competition footage is great for me as a coach, as I get to see things I'd rarely see in class and can work them out in class, helping make everyone that little bit sharper :)

Double silver for Erik at the All Stars Europeans!

Another good day at the office and a very busy weekend for Armada Apparel sponsored athlete Erik Domsodi, who competed at the All Stars Europeans event on Sunday and came away with two hard earned silver medals.

A great weekend for Wimbledon BJJ, with two gold and three silver medals in the bag and now it's full steam ahead for the NAGA event next month, as the monkeys have their sights set on the awesome belts that are up for grabs :)

Medals at the UKGCC!

A great day at the office on Saturday at the UKGCC event in London, with Gorgeous George bagging gold in Gi and No Gi and a hard fought and well earned silver medal for young Erik :)

Congrats from myself and everyone at Wimbledon BJJ, an outstanding effort indeed!

New School BJJ - Brixton!

Had a very enjoyable session at New School BJJ Brixton last night, attending the evening Gi session; last year one of my students competed against one of the New School blue belts, a Patrick Gnaye and after chatting to Patrick, he invited me over to train at his club.

The session was taken by Reiss Bailey, IBJJF European Masters 2023 Gold medallist among other accolades and it was a nice change being a student again, instead of a coach; the session was very technical together with specific training and rolling and I will definitely be back for more.

Huge thanks to Reiss for the class, Patrick for the roll and all the students for making me feel welcome on the mats :)

No Gi session!

Had another very enjoyable No Gi session last night at Northern Monkey HQ, going over the wrestling takedowns for BJJ from the seminar at the Snake Pit on Sunday; the takedowns are really easy to integrate into our training and I'm looking forward to seeing them in action at NAGA and Grappling Industries next month :)

Last night's class

Another hot and sweaty No Gi session at Northern Monkey HQ last night, went over the techniques from Sunday's seminar at the Snake Pit, lots of new tricks up our rash guards now, looking forward to seeing my students pull them off at the upcoming NAGA and Grappling Industries comps in April :)

Wrestling for BJJ seminar @ the Snake Pit!

Had a great day out yesterday at the Snake Pit, attending the first Wrestling for BJJ seminar, hosted by Brett Hawthorn and my old pal Mark Spencer.

This was the first seminar of its kind at the Snake Pit and was well attended including 2023 Catch World Champion Finlay Marshall.

The techniques were all BJJ friendly, centering around takedowns from Brett and transitioning to groundwork with Mark; everything was very well demonstrated and explained by both coaches, with everything easy to assimilate into a No Gi BJJ session.

Which I will be doing tonight at SW19 :)

Thanks to my student Craig Lawson for travelling up from Leicester to attend the session, I look forward to more of these sessions in the future.

Also great to see Roy Wood sat in his chair, keeping an eye on proceedings and stepping in to help and sharing his knowledge with everyone and of course Andrea Wood, for arranging these seminars :)

Catch session last night!

Had a very hot and sweaty Catch session last night at SW19, a great turn out as always, lots of fun twisting up fools and adding some Catch into our No Gi training, ready to drop a few surprises in April at NAGA and GI :)

No Gi session last night!

Started the month off in style with a hot and sweaty No Gi session at Northern Monkey HQ...the class covered attacking the turtle position, taking the back and finishing and some old school Catch wrestling, turning and pinning using a back hammer/half nelson combo.

Lots of rolling from everyone, getting ready for NAGA and Grappling Industries in April, so lots to work on!

The mist never lies :)

Gold for George!

Another good day at the office for young George yesterday at the Oxfordshire Open, making his brown belt debut and bagging the gold medal with a nasty footlock.

Congrats to George from myself and everyone at the club, looking forward to seeing more bling this year :)
