Pricey's Postcard!

Got this nice little postcard thru the post at the weekend, from our resident hot tub fan, Gaz Price; he wrote in saying how much fun he was having on the beach rolling about on the sand with the locals and how much he enjoyed having his sun tan cream rubbed into his back. He even took his skipping ropes along so he could keep trim whilst he was away, keeping him fit as a fiddle as he danced the night away at the local rainbow clubs. The postcard sure looks like he was having fun that week don't you think?!

Well done Terry and Leroy!

Another great day at the UMA event, really packed attendance from kids and seniors and ran like clockwork; over 100 seniors entered from -65 to +95, adults, masters and Open weight and all done for 3pm!! Enjoyed a few bouts of refereeing and pleased to say Chris 'Terry' Webster walked away with bronze in his first ever competition, overcoming nerves and self doubt and the Bald Assassin, Leroy Holcroft, not content with fighting in the -70 division, stepped up and entered a highly talented -75K, fighting BJJ blue belts and strong Judokas and walked away with a silver for his efforts!! James Canavan and Ben Ogunby fought in the -80 division and fought some tough matches and only lost on pins and happy to say none of the lads lost to a tap out, so well done to you all!!

Caged Steel - a few pix

Just a few pix from yesterday, sent the lot in to www.lockflow.com where Chaz will host them as a gallery; great day yesterday, some old faces I'd not seen for years and a load of new friends made on the day. Thanks to all the lads who came from my club to support the day, hope you came back with something new, I know I did, a mashed in kidney courtesy of Andy Bakewell!! Highlight of the day was that lovely looking bar maid in the Last Orders bar, wonder what agency she came from??!!

Another sweaty session tonight and good numbers, all getting ready for the weekend trip to Caged Steel, it's shaping up to be a BIG session, gonna be some top pro and semi pro MMA fighters and coaches in all styles, all sharing their knowledge, so take advantage of this fantastic training opportunity! See you all tomorrow for the BJJ class.

After consultations with Combat Base, four students were awarded stripes on their white belts last night - the photo shows my good self with (from left to right) James Cananvan (1 stripe), Phil Walmsley (2 stripes), Leroy Holcroft (2 stripes) and Gaz Price (1 stripe). Well done guys well deserved reward and now all firmly on the jiu jitsu highway!

Good things come in threes!

The old saying is certainly true for me this week; received an email from UMA main man Jim Mc Sherry asking if I would be Senior Officer for BJJ for the UMA, together with club affiliation to the UMA. This really came as a complete suprise and I feel highly honoured and chuffed to bits to be asked, so I replied in the positive!

If that wasn't enough, Dave Morris has requested me to be their BJJ coach (see earlier post) and to round things off, the guys from Team Warriors have appointed me to be their BJJ coach as well! I will be travelling to the clubs on a monthly basis teaching gi classes, so keep your eyes peeled on here for more news and pix.

Check out http://www.umauk.co.uk/News.htm for more UMA info!

BJJ seminar in Derby!

Had the honour and privilige of teaching a three hour gi seminar for my very good friend Dave Morris of Derby Tap or Snap (formerly Derby Shooters). Really enjoyed taking the class and at the end of the session, Dave asked me if I would like to be their BJJ coach and come back on a monthly basis to take a gi class for the lads. Suffice to say we are booked back in for Saturday March 15th and what's more, those who wish, will be taken out round the local town and be given a free tour of the local pubs, clubs and lapdancing bars, by Dave and the lads - not to be missed!! Dave will be making a trip up to Bolton in the near future and will be taking an MMA class at the club, more details to follow. Thanks to all my lads for supporting the day and putting up with my dodgy sat nav!
