A look at Nelsons with the Northern Monkey

Here's a little You Tube video, where I go over the series of Nelsons at Wimbledon BJJ...

A nelson hold is a grappling hold executed by one person from behind the opponent, generally when both are on the mat face down, with the opponent underneath the aggressor.

In wrestling, a nelson is used to control an opponent or to turn them onto their back and execute a pin; in BJJ, they are a great addition to your grappling arsenal when your opponent turtles up and can be used to pin an opponent with a mind to advance position and also sets up submissions.

I have used the quarter nelson in many live situations on the doors, after softening up the aggressor with strikes, the quarter nelson works a treat in getting the aggressor to the ground, where you can control and restrain.

You can find a video on my You Tube channel covering this technique, which I will post on here soon.

Please subscribe to the channel and enjoy the videos!
