Another hot and sweaty session at Wimbledon BJJ last night, a quick warm up and a full class of rolling and ten rounds in the bag for my very good self...managing to keep active on the mats at 54 can be a challenge, but if one uses one's brain and slows down the pace of the rolls, one still gets a good sweat on and are able to get out of bed relatively in one piece :)

Had a brilliant session with the monkeys last night, celebrating my eighth year as a black belt on the mats is by far the best way to celebrate it for sure :)
On this day eight years ago, I was awarded my black belt from Luiz Ribeiro at London Fight Factory, in front of one of my all time heroes, Leo Vieira...a day I'll never forget :)
HUGE congrats to these three beasts on their very well earned fourth stripe, after a brutal hour long shark tank last night :)
Another killer session last night at SW19, back in the Gi this week and lots of fun as always and lots of hard work and plenty of fools twisted up too :)
HUGE congrats to teenage sensation Matt who bagged a very impressive double gold in Gi and No Gi at the weekend at the Grappling Industries event in London :)
This event is always rammed and stacked with serious talent in all divisions and Matt went out there and showed them how the SW19 monkeys do it :)
Congrats to Simon and Pat on their very well deserved first stripe on their white belt, awarded in September...the journey has begun :)
A week after the fun and games with Glenn Lambdin, I was extremely proud to host John Hathaway for a No Gi seminar at the club and the mats were packed :)
John went through a wrestling specific warm up and took the class through a single and double leg, an ankle pick and lots of gold of getting into tie up positions and lots more :)
Was great to have John at the club and to meet other students of the grappling arts, more new friends made on the day :)
Had an awesome with US black belt Glenn Lambdin in September, who kindly dropped into the UK on his way home to the US after teaching in Europe, to deliver a free seminar with the older grappler in mind, but was open to grapplers of every age.
Glenn has a book out, Confessions of an Older Grappler - The Art of Staying on the Mats for Life and took the class through a number of concepts and technique sequences that he now uses to keep him on the mats at the young age of 68, together with multiple knee and back surgeries.
A great time was had by all, some very cool moves that are now in our arsenal and in true WBJJ style, we took Glenn over to the Spoons to sample first hand the awesomeness of the pub and its environs and Glenn is now a Spoons fan :)
I also met some really cool older grapplers and I look forward to training with these guys again real soon and as Glenn says in his book...
'Youth and skill are no match against old age and treachery...'
Celebrated my 54th rotation around the sun with a killer No Gi session with the monkeys and a post training rehydration session at the Spoons, what's not to love :)

It's been a week of No Gi at Wimbledon BJJ, with one of the the monkeys competing at the weekend at the London RAW Open event :)
Had an absolute nightmare with the Blog these past few months, for some reason I've been unable to post photos on my posts; I'm not the most tech savvy person on the planet, I've Google'd all kinds of help all to no avail, but kept at it and didn't give up.
Anyway, logged on here today and some pop ups appeared on clearing cookies etc and BOOM I can post pix again (fingers crossed)
