If you don't visit the Big Buddha then you haven't really been to Phuket; EVERYONE at the camp has been up, so I jumped on a scooter and drove up the winding roads up to the monument and it sure is worth the drive up there. The views of Phuket at the top are breathtaking to say the least and the Buddha monument is simply stunning.
After a walk in the souvenier area, I donated some small coins into 37 individual cups, assuring me good luck and after walking round the monument and soaking up the atmosphere, I went back inside the souvenier area and was blessed with holy water by two monks and had a chat with them about the monastery and Buddhism in general.
I've been blessed over a dozen times since I've been here, so I look forward to continued good luck and hopefully a few gold medals when I get back to the UK and start competing in May and June.
