Wednesday night class
Bit of a quieter class on Wednesday, illness and that dreaded four letter word 'work' getting in the way of people's training, but lots of hard work and fun for everyone who turned up to train, drilling takedowns, standing wristlocks and rolling loop chokes...
Wednesday I was repping the awesome Hunter/Trapper rash guard from my sponsors BAIN...if you'd like order one yourself then visit https://www.bainstore.com/shop/bain-hunter-trapper-rashi

Monday night's class
Killer session on Monday night, lots of hard work from everyone and I enjoyed hitting the mats and training with the team; I'm currently enjoying a period of remission from my injuries, don't know how long it's going to last, so I'm making the most of every session, without going crazy and thinking I'm a young purple belt again...
Still drilling the gold from the Maia seminar and some new cool X guard wizardry from the session with Tom Halpin at The Gathering this weekend gone, so lots to cram into two sessions per week.

LFF Saturday class
Killer session this afternoon at London Fight Factory...
After a quick warm it was rounds of sparring all class, a real test of character indeed. Had a great time twisting up fools and getting my fool ass twisted up too; eighteen rounds of sparring in two days for this old dog, let's see how I am in the morning, before I start saying how tough I am!

Open Mat at LFF
Great to be back down at LFF once more, after shaking off the most lingering and miserable Man Flu ever to hit the male species...it's been a really bus week with many visitors to the gym, as Polaris will be underway as I type and the UFC the day after at the O2.
With Polaris and the UFC on this weekend, it's been a roll call of Jiu Jitsu celebs here at LFF...Rodrigo Cavaca did three days focusing on the Gi, Vagner Rocha was taking a few classes, before his match with Ross Nicholls at Polaris...Eduardo 'Teta' Rios was also here, soaking up the good vibes and UK photographer Maggie Left took time to call in and see everyone, plus lots more, whose names escape me right now.
At the Open Mat today, there was a group of Jiu Jiteiros from the Basque Country on the mats and my good friend Paul Cleobury and his team mates were up from Bournemouth, all here for the weekend too.

Demian Maia at London Fight Factory
Gremlins in the work prevented me from posting this after what can be only described as three hours of absolute Jiu Jitsu gold from UFC legend Demian Maia, who was guest of honour over at London Fight Factory on Saturday March 9th.
Four of us represented Wimbledon BJJ on the day and the mats were understandably packed out for this event, in what was the most hotly anticipated event of the year so far.
Luiz brings nothing but the best down to LFF and Demian did not disappoint, as he passed on a multitude of old school techniques and some really brutal submissions, all easily adapted into anyone's game, which is just what I like.
The energy in the room was palpable and Demian is such a humble and approachable guy; it's hard to think that he's such an elite athlete with an unparalleled BJJ and MMA record of achievement, as he talked to white belts and black belts on the mats in equal measure and respect.
No question was too much trouble for him in the Q+A session half way through the seminar and it was an insightful and revealing window into the mindset of an elite athlete.
As always, huge thanks to Luiz for arranging such an amazing and inspiring afternoon of Jiu Jitsu.

Last night's class...
Another solid class in the bag, lots of techniques packed into the session, from lasso guard goodies, to more of the gold from the Maia seminar and I even threw in a Berimbolo...
Yes, a twisty upside downy Berimbolo...at my age as well!
Must be having a mid life crisis...

Wednesday's class...
Bit of a quiet one on Wednesday, a mixture of Man Flu, injuries and work schedules getting in the way of training...that said, the fun doesn't stop when it's quiet.
It's a bonus for those who turned up Wednesday, as they get more of my time, so I make sure they all have a good, hard session and give them a few sneaky moves to try out on those that missed class when they next turn up :)
