Rounded off the month of May with a killer competition class last night, one more to go before we compete at the Grappling Industries event on Saturday 4th June :)
Shark tanks for all those competing and some very exciting match ups between all students, taking them through the points scoring as I refereed the matches and I even jumped in and had a go myself :)
After the Grappling Industries event next weekend, we now have our next SW19 Club Jolly Boys Outing in the bag, with an afternoon with Mauricio Gomes at Kingston Jiu Jitsu on June 18th :)
An awesome No Gi wrasslin' session last night at SW19, packed full of IBJJF non friendly techniques and lots of specifics and rolling, really enjoyed teaching and twisting up some fools :)
A very hot and sweaty session last night at SW19, as we prepare for our next completion on June 4th, the Grappling Industries event; got four monkeys ready for action, so lots of hard work in the weeks ahead for everyone :)
A very hot and sweaty session at SW19 last night, adding Jiu Jitsu escapes to strikes from guard and mount positions, following up from Monday night's class; everything changes when you start getting hit and hopefully the session gave the students a little taste of what it's like when the s**t hits the fan!
Massive congrats to my student Ellie who started her basic training for the London Fire Brigade yesterday!
To say I am proud is an understatement!
Ellie started training PSP with me last Summer, as she was starting her preparations to get into the Fire service and I am extremely proud of all of her hard work, which has now paid off and I look forward to when she passes with flying colours.
I hope this post inspires others to go and chase your dreams, but in order to succeed, only you can make it happen through hard work and dedication; people can guide you along the way, but ultimately, it's all down to you and how much you want it. No excuses. Just do it!

A hot and sweaty No Gi session last night, as we put Big Mike, back row right, through the mill in readiment for his first competition at the weekend, Caged BJJ 7 in London no less :)
Huge congrats to my student Siobhan, who ran her first Safe Hands Self Defence session in Bristol this morning, delivering a much needed service to women and vulnerable women in her home town.

Last night was Bruno's last class before he heads back to Brazil and it was only right that he should take the class one last time; it's been an honour and a privilege to have Bruno at the club, when he could have easily gone to one of the bigger clubs in and around the Wimbledon area.
We have exchanged swear words during his time here, plus many Northern sayings which I'm sure will go down well in Sao Paulo and we look forward to seeing photos of Bruno is his Northern Monkey/Wimbledon BJJ Gi in his academy.
At the end of the class Bruno said at his club Maffei BJJ, he is a lion, but in his heart he is a monkey, can't really ask for more than that :)
