Last night was the last class of the month and our run of competitions has come to an end, with four comps in successive weekends, bagging lots of medals along the way.
Looking forward to July and more comps to prepare for :)

Busy session at Northern Monkey HQ on Monday night, thanks to George for taking the class in my absence, looking forward to getting back of the mats tonight and twisting up some fools :)
Another busy session last night at SW19 and Bart's last shark tanking beef he makes his competition debut on Sunday :)
Back to drawing board last night at SW19, after a great result at the Brighton Open on Sunday; we have a monkey making his competition debut on Sunday, so it was only fair to give him another shark tank last night :)
Another good day at the office on Sunday at the Brighton Open, with two monkeys coming back with very well earned gold and silver medals.
George fought a tough opponent in the purple belt division and lost on points in a very close match and young Erik bagged another gold to add to his collection.
One monkey will be making his competition debut on Sunday, making it the club's fourth competition in a row, you can't say we don't work hard here in SW19 :)
Another killer session at SW19 on Wednesday night, with a monster shark tank for two monkeys who are competing in comps this weekend and the weekend after :)
Huge congrats to the Caged BJJ veterans for bringing back three gold medals back to SW19, our best result this year and plenty more gold medals coming back to Northern Monkey HQ :)
Someone forgot to bring their medals in with them, can you guess who??
A killer session last night and the busiest of the year so far, twenty five monkeys having it large on the mats, getting ready for another comp at the weekend, the Brighton Open and another comp the weekend after, that's four comps in a row...
Can't say we don't work hard here in SW19 :)
A very good day at the office yesterday for the monkeys at the Caged BJJ event, coming away with three gold medals, a superb result for the lads and the club!
Had a very enjoyable weekend up in Nottingham for the Kaizen Adrenaline event hosted by Lucci Del Gaudio and his team.
Saturday evening was spent at an awards ceremony and dinner event and I was very humbled to come away with two awards, Services to Martial Arts and Outstanding Contributions award.
On the Sunday, myself and Craig Lawson took to the mats and delivered a self protection session, together with Craig talking about the use of reasonable force and its application within martial arts training.
It was great to see all the usual suspects over the weekend and to catch up with friend and looking forward to next year!
HUGE congrats to my mucker in Portsmouth Colin Foster who was promoted to seventh Dan in Traditional Jiu Jitsu at the weekend from Steve Barnett in Harrogate.
Another killer session at SW19 last night, three monkeys competing No Gi at the weekend at the Caged BJJ event, all No Gi, so looking forward to more medals coming back to the club :)
Another good day at the office on Sunday at the Grappling Industries competition, with Erik bagging two silvers for the club; Sadly Jun missed out on the medals, but bagged an impressive submission win against one of his opponents.
Three monkeys competing this coming weekend, hopefully more bling for the club :)
A great start to another month of training at Wimbledon BJJ, three students competing at the weekend at the Caged BJJ event, so lots of hard work these next few sessions before the lads go out and get some more bling for the club :)
This young man is on fire this year, bagging two more silver medals at the Grappling Industries event today :)
Nine years ago today, I made the bold move to relocate to London and start teaching Jiu Jitsu; as a brown belt this was quite a daunting move as London is awash with black belts and for over eighteen months my classes were single figures and I was beginning to think I'd made a big mistake.
I stuck at it and slowly the numbers started to increase and now classes are double figures pretty much every class, numbers now running in the twenties and last year had high thirties, so the aim this year is to get in to the forties and beyond!
