Looking forward to my No Gi seminar at Lucci Del Gaudio's new dojo in Nottingham on Sunday November 7th 12-3pm
£30pp and open to all my martial arts friends, regardless of style and association and will be the first seminar at Lucci's new dojo, so I'm very proud and humbled to have this honour :)
Another great session, two new starters joining the team last night, building up the Wimbledon Monkey Army every week :)
The mats were on fire with this lot last night, another new starter joining in the fun and more to come over the next week :)
Huge congrats to Marcus who was baptised on the mats and undertook a twenty five minute shark tank, rolling one minute with every student and my good self and was rewarded with two stripes on his white belt.
An awesome display of heart, stamina and a never give up attitude :)
The knackered smile says it and what's more, he's a Northerner :)
Another great Open Mat on Saturday, with students coming down from Leicester to train, another from a local RGA club and a special guest, who trains in California and is here in London for three months; she trains at Elite Team Porterville and dropped in for a session, hopefully get to see her again before she heads back to the US :)
Really looking forward to this event, which has been organised by Lucci Del Gaudio; I'll be sharing the mats with some real legends of Jiu Jitsu and Judo :)

I'm a big fan of Tim Larkin and follow him on Instagram, where he regularly posts thought provoking videos on all aspect of self defence, you can follow him @timlarkinft...
Tim is an ex military intelligence officer and a self defence expert and has written a number of books and this book should be on everyone's book shelf, whether you train martial arts or not.
The books gives the reader what they need to prevent, prepare for and survive real world violence; how to think about violence and how to think about using violence, as well as creating the right mindset should you be unlucky enough to be caught in a live situation.

Thanks to one of my old students Nick Briely for posting a photo of his customised Gi on Facebook, I noted it was a gold weave Gi and I'm a sucker for a bit of gold weave.
I contact Dany Newman from Teki Fightwear and treated myself to a one off customised Gi, because as they say in the L'oreal ads...

History was made last night at SW19, as I promoted my first female student to blue belt :)
Ciara has been put through some serious shark tanks these last few months and this promotion is very well deserved and she had a fifteen minute shark tank at the end of the class, rolling one minute with every student, a proper baptism into the blue belt :)

Great session last night, quieter than usual, still got people laid off with the lurgy, but a killer class none the less; unleashed some Lapel Hell onto the monkeys, which went down well with everyone's necks and windpipes :)
FINALLY taken delivery of Wimbledon BJJ club Gis :)
Something I've wanted to do for a long time now and was all set to get them last year, before COVID hit, but they're here now, that's all that matters.
A nice lightweight Gi with ripstop pants and awesome embroidery on both jacket and pants, can't wait to hit the mats with it tomorrow night :)
Quite a few Monkeys laid low with the Manflu last night, but still a great turn out, with new starters on the mats, adding to the group :)
One of my students reminded me today that on Saturday just gone, was the fifth anniversary of me being awarded my black belt in BJJ, I'd completely forgot this milestone!
I shall celebrate in style by twisting as many fools as possible in class tonight :)
Managed to get my female PSP student filmed hitting the pads, using a few tools from the Combatives Toolbox, which is on the PSP syllabus...
Easy to learn gross motor skills, that work well under pressure testing and gets the job done quickly...
Speaking to my student, she now says she feels a lot more confident and safer when she is out and about, which is the best feedback an instructor can get.

Had a great afternoon of training yesterday with the Monkeys, lots of hard work and always lots of fun :)
An absolute pleasure and a privilege to have Lucci Del Gaudio on the mats yesterday at SW19; travelling all the way from Nottingham with his son Mario, both of them got stuck in and had a great time with the Monkeys :)
