A super hot and sweaty session last night at SW19 BJJ HQ :)
After a quick warm up it was an evening of rolling for everyone, myself included, plus some PSP padwork for the ladies, great fun!

Great to have some of the SW19 ladies on the mats night, enjoying the training and keeping the guys in check :)
Really great to see Siobhan Stick getting stuck into her Thai classes over in Bristol, as well as getting her Safe Hands Self Defence business off the ground :)
Wimbledon BJJ and Precision Self Protection are behind her 100%, as she helps out women who have suffered and survived domestic violence and we look forward to helping these women in the future when Siobhan is up and running proper.
Go Siobhan!HUGE congrats to the Beast from the East, as I gave young Vassil his first stripe on his belt last night in class; he's only sixteen years old and regularly terrorises the adults with his Shoulder of Doom and other Dark Arts.
He's also a lovely well mannered young man and is a delight to teach :)
Had a great session last night, delivered a spot of Applied Jiu Jitsu, starting with a standing shoulder lock and moved onto to double collar grabs and disengagements.
Had the pleasure of another White Eagle as one of Marta's friends was in town, so she brought her down and I obliged her with a shark tank on her very first class, which she really enjoyed :)
Thanks to Gile from the BJJEE website for posting one of my You Tube videos on his website :)

In addition to running the regular classes, I have a black belt with me until May, so I was able to leave the monkeys with Bruno and train specifics, so I could take two of the ladies through some padwork last night.
Don't let the smiles fool you, these ladies mean business!
What I like about this type of padwork is that it's simple to execute and wishing fifteen minutes, the ladies are really hitting the pads hard; gross motor movements that work well under high pressure.
Seeing their faces light up when they get a good shot in is so rewarding as an instructor and it really empowers the ladies every time they do these little sessions in class.
One student at a time :)
My soccer mad student Mehmet was back on the road last night, as he visited Arsenal stadium for another round of football, when he should be here being an ankle pest :)
A hot and sweaty one last night, all windows closed until the end of class, helps get the temperature up and the blood flowing, great for old and sore muscles like mine :)
Two new starters this week, their shark tanks await :)
One of my students took his Wimbledon BJJ rash guard up to Old Trafford last night, hopefully the Womble didn't get altitude sickness, being so far up North from SW19 :)
Another solid turn out last night from the monkeys and a highly enjoyable shark tank for the Northern Monkey, was great to get the blood flowing after a long lay off from injuries, looking forward to more of the same tomorrow!
HUGE congrats to young Phil, who received two stripes on his white belt...as Bon Jovi once said, he's halfway there...to his blue belt :)
Both Wimbledon BJJ and Precision Self Protection are pleased to announce that we are fully on board with the Safe Hands Self Defence project in Bristol.
Gary and I met the owner Siobhan at a training course last year and Siobhan attended my PSP sessions in Brixton, travelling from Bristol each week and joined in the Saturday classes in Wimbledon.
Covid restrictions has delayed her launch, now things are back to normal, Siobhan is raring to go and is back training BJJ and PSP with me and aims to start training Thai boxing over in Bristol.
Gary, Craig and myself are very pleased to be on a board on what is a truly inspirational project, where we can all help those that need it the most and we wish her every success!
Website coming soon :)
Siobhan is the woman in the pink T-shirt :)
Another great turn out from the Wimbledon ladies, really great see their numbers increasing the last few months, won't be long before we get double figures :)
The club actively encourages women to come and train at the club; any ladies wanting to give a class a try, email me at wimbledonbjj@yahoo.com :)
Really enjoyed class last night, even managed a shark tank of my own, alongside fellow black belt Bruno and birthday boy Liam :)
It was good to get the blood flowing again, after months of injuries and setbacks, looking forward to more of the same on our Saturday class this weekend :)
A big Northern Monkey shout out to all the ladies who train BJJ around the world and to women in general :)
It's great to see more women training at SW19 and the club actively encourages women to come and train and change their lives for the better.
Any women wanting to train drop me an email at wimbledonbjj@yahoo.com
Had a great turn out from the women last night, who bring a sliver of glamour to the night's proceedings :)
The club now has nine women at the club and will definitely be hitting double figures soon; it's been a hard slog trying to get women on the mats, it can be very intimidating being the only woman on the mat, filled with hairy sweaty men.
That said, all the lads are very welcoming to the women and support and encourage the ladies in every class and the ladies are now regularly kicking ass and giving the lads a hard time!
Kick started a new month of training with a new record number of monkeys on the mats, thirty eight in total :)
After two training camps, things were more chilled last night, more techniques taught but always a shark tank at the ready :)
Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow!
Some BIG announcements are coming tonight in class at SW19... :)

Had a great day yesterday at the Brighton Open...all the hard work over the last four weeks were rewarded with a bronze and a silver medal :)
One monkey was robbed of a bronze medal via ref decision, but that's the way it goes sometimes, suck it up and move on to the next comp.
That said, it was great to see the lads get stuck in and stepping up to compete and giving their opponents a game fight and repping Northern Monkey Jiu Jitsu; after the lads had competed, I sniffed a local Spoons and had a few drinks and a bite to eat before heading back to the Big Smoke.
Back to the drawing board tomorrow, plenty of stuff to work on from yesterday and will plan our next competition.
Oos!
Last night was the last session of the Brighton Open training camp and what a training camp it's been!
Hard work from every student, helping push those competing as well as themselves; shark tanks every class for everyone, with no complaints, some students even asking for them!
Whatever the outcome at the weekend, I know that everyone competing has put 100% into their training and will leave it all on the mats :)
Ooos!
Ended the month off in fine style, with another solid competition class, only one more session tomorrow, before we head off to the Brighton Open on Saturday :)
I think you can agree, the smile really says it all in this photo and just what it means to my student Adriana, as I gave her her first stripe last night in class...after a solid shark tank of course!
