Wednesday classes

 Last night we had fun in the pyjamas at Northern Monkey HQ :)

No Gi Tuesday

 A quiet one last night but still lots of hard work from both the beginners and the advanced classes :)

Monday Madness!

 Hot off the heels of a very successful seminar on Sunday, it was back to business at SW19 with an action packed day of Jiu Jitsu; starting with the L'il Monkeys and getting well and truly twisted up by the little monkey, we had a solid thirty minutes of wrestling and rolling, great fun for sure!

The Beginners classes are growing every week and are really picking up the fundamentals quickly, these classes are a fantastic starting point for anyone wanting to start training and for regular students too, there's always something of value you can pick in these classes.

The main class comprised of two brutal shark tanks for James and Big Ron, who are competing next weekend and were put though their paces by all of us, with no complaints :)

Week by week the new gym is growing and moving in the right direction, the Northern Monkey Order expands!

FAIXA PRETA #2!!

 Hot on the heels of promoting my student Gorgeous George to black belt in January, on Sunday I had the huge honour of promoting Submission Scoundrels head coach Chris Petherwick to black belt at his club in Tidworth, in front of a packed house with five black belts in attendance (before Chris made it it six) and just shy of forty people on the day.

Chris is a lifelong martial artist like myself with black belts in other arts and wrestled under the tutelage of Roy Wood back in the day, winning the British championships along the way; Chris has a huge passion for the arts and is an active competitor and inspires his students to compete in Gi and No Gi comps and are making waves on the UK competition scene.

A very well deserved promotion indeed, massive congrats to Chris from myself and all the monkeys at Wimbledon BJJ, Dog House MMA and everyone at Submission Scoundrels; the Northern Monkey Order is three black belts strong, lots more to come :)

Northern Monkey Seminar @ Submission Scoundrels!

 I had great pleasure teaching my first seminar of the year over at Northern Monkey affiliate club Submission Scoundrels, headed by Chris Petherwick in sunny Tidworth :)

It was an awesome turn out with six black belts on the mats and ten Jiu Jitsu and Judo clubs representing on the day as well.

I delivered an Old School Jiu Jitsu seminar with a smattering of Catch Wrestling as well to add a bit of spice to the afternoon and it was a lot of fun teaching and sharing the mats with so many Jiu Jitsu enthusiasts :)

It was very humbling to have so many people turn out and spend their afternoon with my good self and massive thanks to Gorgeous George for being a great uke as always and to Ron and James for coming over to support the event and to James for being a great driver :)

Thursday night - Wrasslin Night!

 Two killer Catch Wrestling classes last night at SW19 in the beginners and the advanced class, put the monkeys through their paces with wrestling drills, takedowns and stand up wrestling, hard work from everyone :)

Wednesday night - pyjama night!

 Zipping through the month of February at a rate of knots and another Gi session in the bag last night, with two killer sessions in the Beginners and Advanced classes :)

Gold for George!

 HUGE congrats to new minted black belt George Brown, who competed at the Surrey Open at the weekend and bagged his first old medal :)

No Gi Tuesday!

Mixing it up with the No Gi classes last night at Northern Monkey HQ, a solid Beginners class as always and lots of fun in the Advanced class, dropping in a few takedowns and plenty of rolling :)

Monday night classes

 Kick started another week off in style with the Beginners and Advanced classes last night, got three monkeys set to compete in a couple of weeks, so plenty of shark tanks and lots of rolling for the lads :)

No Gi Mayhem!

 Two killer No Gi classes last night starting with the Beginners, which are going very well, really picking up the  of Jiu Jitsu; finished with the Advanced class and went through killer wrestler's warm up and a brutal shark tank for two of the monkeys who are due to compete in a few weeks :)

 

Wednesday classes

 Another busy mid week, crammed with Gi goodness; starting with the L'il Monkeys in the afternoon, before rounding off the night with a Beginners class and a busy Advanced class :)

No Gi Tuesday!

 A rather quiet night at SW19, but whether it two or twenty two on the mats, it's always a lot of fun and I got more time to spend with the beginners last night and ironed out a number of creases in their positions and went submission and with the intermediate/advanced class :)

Monday classes

 Another busy start to the week at Wimbledon BJJ, with the L'il Monkeys kicking things off, then the Beginners Gi class and rounding the night off with the Intermediate/Advanced Gi class :)

No Gi Thursday

 Had a great day of No Gi shenanigans at Wimbledon BJJ yesterday, introducing No Gi Beginners classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights, 7-8pm, then rolling into the intermediate/advanced No Gi class.

So we now have all bases covered for anyone wanting to train with us at Northern Monkey HQ and the beginners classes are really proving popular at the minute and gives me the time to concentrate on each group accordingly.

Wednesday classes

 Back in the Gi last night at Wimbledon BJJ with the Beginners and Int/Adv classes in full swing, lots of hard work from everyone :)

No Gi last night!

 A killer No Gi session in the int/adv class last night, went over some cool side control drills, dropping Brabos from all angles and ended the night with lots of rolling, as always :)

Monday classes

 Another busy day of Jiu Jitsu at SW19, with the L'il Monkeys kicking everything off; the beginners class is picking up momentum now, with the new starters getting to grips with the fundamentals and a killer main session with just blue and brown belts rounded off the night :)

Saturday Session!

 January is over and a new month lies ahead and started the month off with a little Saturday session with the monkeys :)

Lots of rolling and MMA sparring and rounded the day off with a few well earned beers :)
