Last night's class

 Another killer competition class last night at SW19, picking up the pace and getting ready for our first comp of the year in March at the Grappling Industries Round Robin event :)

 HUGE congrats to student Brenda Campos, who was promoted to blue belt at her original club in Brazil, GF Team Niteroi, when she went back to visit family at Christmas :)

 Back in the swing of things at the club now, preparing hard for the first comp of the year next month :)

A competition focussed class, with lots of specifics and some new strategies to play around with, be cool to see them get pulled off in the comps :)

 A very enjoyable No Gi session last night at SW19, with Kyle from Photographs Matter coming back to take more photos during the class :)

After Monday night's error of taking a team photo at the end of class, we took one at the start last night and it's come out much better :)

This week we are training No Gi, mixing up the sessions between Gi and No Gi; last night we had the pleasure of Kyle Issit from Photographs Matter, who was on the mats taking photos of the session and tomorrow will be taking videos of the class.

Kyle is working on building up his portfolio and the high res photos and videos can be used to promote the club across social media, so it's a win/win situation all round :)

One lesson learned last night was not to take the team photo at the end of the class, when the room is like a Turkish bath with the heat haze having in the air, so tomorrow we will take the team photo at the start of class :)

Never too old to learn!

 Huge thanks to Andrea Wood from the Snake Pit in Wigan for sending me the Level 1 Wrestling Manual and a cool t-shirt and rash guard, the journey begins...

It's great to become a student once more and I'm  very blessed to have Level 1 instructor Mark Ganaden and Level 2 instructor Wei Tran on my doorstep to train with every week and help get me up to speed before I do the course in May.

Last night's class

 Another great Gi session last night at SW19, lots of fun going over the Catch drills from last in the warm up and plenty of rounds of rolling to end the class :)

 Was great to be back again at Mark Ganaden's gym for a session of BJJ with Mark and a session of Catch with Level 2 Instructor Wei :)

Wei couldn't make the class last week due to train strikes, so this was my first train being taught by him and what an excellent session it was!

It's really great to become a student again, you're never too old to stop learning :)

 A great session tonight as always, the numbers slowly getting back up there, still a lot of students missing, but will be back to full speed very soon :)

Northern Monkey Jiu Jitsu World Tour of the UK - Gosport!

 Started the new year in style with a fun filled seminar at Zentai Jiu Jitsu in Gosport at Colin Foster's dojo...they are a Trad JJ club and I did my Third Dan grading there with Colin last June and have been down teaching many times over the last few years, so it was nice to get to see Colin and his students again :)

All the students were very enthusiastic and really got stuck into the drills, techniques and specific training and I'm looking forward to seeing them make the trip up to SW19 and join in my Saturday classes through the year :)

Next seminar will be on January 14th at Kyouken MMA in Andover :)
